Today, the city and its districts are filled with remnants of this rich 4000-year history, including beautiful churches, monasteries, castles and much more. Sumela Monastery
Definitely one of the most important tourist attractions of Trabzon, Sümela Monastery is quite an amazing structure as it is tucked into the side of a steep cliff overlooking the beautiful natural landscape. Built in 386 AD and dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Greek Orthodox monastery is located at an altitude of 1,200 metres (3,937 feet) above Altındere National Park.
Trabzon Hagia Sophia Museum
This old Greek Orthodox church, also located in the city of Trabzon, was converted into a mosque in 1584, but its history dates back to the 13th century when Trabzon was the capital of the Trabzon Empire. Located close to the sea, the historical building is now used as a museum and is considered one of the most beautiful examples of Byzantine architecture.
Uzungol
Uzungöl, located in the south of Trabzon, is one of the most preferred places for city dwellers to spend time in nature. Uzungöl, a charming village surrounded by green mountains and a large lake in the middle, is a perfect place to relax and take a walk.
